Brainstorming Introduction
Where do good ideas come from? They can come out of nowhere triggered by a sound, a phrase, or something seen on the street. Unfortunately, most of the good ideas arrive when there is no paper and pencil in sight. Other ideas, most ideas, you need to search for. You might ask, "But, how do you do it? Is there any secret formula which helps you find the best ideas?" Well, there's good news and bad news. First, the bad news... no, there is no secret formula. Now, the good news... with a little hard work, practice, and discipline you'll find brainstorming is a valuable tool not only for generating ideas but for finding solutions to problems that arise throughout your project. What is brainstorming? It's just what it sounds like, a flurry of ideas that help generate other ideas. It's a process of discovery where you start with a kernel of an idea and then expand. In the following sections, we will cover a number of strategies for effective brainstorming as a group, but before we begin we need to look at creating the best environment for innovation. |
